Dear All,

I have created sample pdf with barcode using of adobe live cycle designer.All field value stored in the barcode.

Now I have barcode, from that i wan't to fetch xml data.

How can I achive this functionality?

XML Signature with Barcoded Form

I have a form that has a number of fields that need to be filled out. When this is complete, the user should digitally sign (with a certificate) the form. However, due to legal requirements, the form must then be printed and mailed back to the organization. Is it possible to encode the signature data within the barcode (PDF417) so it can be validated?

That is the part I already did... What I need now is how to uncompress

the data in workbench after I use Decode operation from Barcoded Forms

and save the XML.

After decode I got binary data...

As I develop my form in LiveCycle designer, I'm setting a drop down list in the form. As seen on the tutorials we have to input the data to for the drop down list one by one.

Can the list be imported from an excel file to make it easier?

QR Codes

I use LiveCycle to create QR codes for use on our printed brochures. We would also like to use these codes on our websites as links to our other websites. How do I export the QR code for use on our Web? The only thing that I see is just placing them in a pdf. Is there a way to export the QR codes?

I am filling a .pdf form from a aspx web page using iTextSharp. I created the .pdf using LiveCycle. The form contains a code 3 of 9 barcode that can be anywhere from 6 to 22 digits. The .pdf gets printed to a 4x6 label. The users are reporting that sometimes their scanner will read the barcode and sometimes it will not. The only difference I can see between barcodes is the length.

The barcode is 2.8 inch long. I have the data length set to 22(it can be 6-22 digits long), checksum is auto, and ratio is 2.2. It's a read only field and default is 0. Are these setting incorrect? I have tried different length, defaults, etc but no luck. Does adobe have some best practices for 3 of 9 bar codes?

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

date field patterns and barcodes

I have a date field that is mapped to a barcode. the date field has a pattern > Data of date {YYYYMMDD} because the target system requires it without the dashes.

However when the barcode generates it always encodes YYYY-MM-DD (ie. WITH THE DASHES).

If i do a xfa.host.messageBox (this.rawValue) it always displays the YYYY-MM-DD.

If I call the this.formattedValue it does return YYYYMMDD.

To fix this i created a hidden field which i wrote to on the exit of the datefield and mapped this hidden field to the barcode.

hiddenField.rawValue = this.formattedValue

Is there a better way to do this without the hidden fields? I ask since i have a bunch of date fields..

How/where do i change the pre-generated barcode code to grab the formattedValue instead of the rawValue if its a datetimefield?

I have this same question in LiveCycle Design, but found it would be best here.

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 pro and was trying to create GS1 DataBar Expanded barcodes.

Since I was limited to just 3 barcode types I hit the forum and found out about LiveCycle.

Even in LiveCycle through Adobe Acrobat 9, I don't see the GS1 barcode I need.

I've tried to manipulate what is available, but that will not work.

I found a plug-in for Adobe Illustrator that has the GS1 DataBar Barcode, but Illustrator + the plug-in software is a little expensive.

My question as stated in the beginning is can you create GS1 DataBar Expanded barcode through Acrobat?

In this situation through LiveCycle? Is there a plug-in through Acrobat or LiveCycle that will include the GS1 DataBar barcode?

Datamatrix with Group separator character or GS1

Hi,

I'm using the adobe livecycle addon for the SAP GUI. I need to generate a datamatrix that contains a group separator character.

This is a machine control character so you cannot enter it in the value field.

Is there a way to have group separators in a datamatrix?

Or does adobe provides a GS1 datamatrix?

Barcode not displayed in Adobe Reader

Hello! Friends,

I have designed an adobe form using Livecycle ES3. The objective is to generate bar code after completing the form. Bar code gets generated in Livecycle.

But in Adobe Reader the bar code is generated only when the data is less. When the data is more then instead of bar code a grey bar is shown.

There are about 25 fields in the form. Tried this in Adobe Reader X (also tried in 9 & 8).

Any help/suggestion in this is highly appreciated.

I am creating a form for my company in our effort to go paperless and to do all forms or paperwork in a tablet. One way we are trying to accomplish this is by scanning barcodes into LiveCycle to populate tables with certain information that has been stored in the barcode using a barcode scanner. My question is whether this is possible or not, and if it is possible, how to do so?

Any information or advice would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have been playing around with a barcode scanner (by the way I dont have a clue) and I've converted a form into a PDF document. I'm trying to move to the next field after the data has been populated in a previous field automatically. I'm not sure if this is done within Adobe Acrobat it self or on the scanner.

The scanner has several different modes, TERMINATION CHAR - CR, TERMINATION - LF, TERMINATION CR+LF and DISABLED.

I believe one of them put a ENT after the data from a barcode and one of the others doesnt. Any ideas?

QR Code capacity with fixed rendered size and dynamic data

There's a paper forms barcode and symbology is QR Code, layout is 46mm x 46mm, error correction level is M, module width is 0.592mm, and max capacity is Chinese(UTF8) x 88 or number x 627 or uppercase A x 380 or lowercase a x 263, and QR code renered size is about 30mm x 30mm when max capacity.

So, my question is, if I want to ALWAYS keep this QR code renered size is same as max capacity(30mm x 30mm), but my daya is dynamic and mix numeric, alphanumeric and byte mode, is there any formula to calculate how may character such as space should be appended?

Is there a limit to the number of characters a barcode 128 can hold? I am trying to fit 100 characters into the barcode but it is becoming so long it doesnt fit on the page. If there is another abrcode recommendation for this character length, I would appreciate suggestions.

2D decode vs. form data integration.export data performance

Hello

We have 2D forms that we accept in printed format or via electronic submission. When they are printed we use the Decode to extract the data before processing. When we get them back electronically, instead of using the Decode we use the formDataIntegration.Export data call. We have mapped a xsd to the form to facilitate this. An advantage of using the export data call is that we dont have to deal with print issues such as smudged barcodes, bleeding ink, thin paper, etc..

BUT im wondering performance wise is one better than the other?

A scanned form is 40kb while our electronic form is 400 kb (mainly because we only scan the barcoded page).

Is 1 more CPU intensive? Does 1 require more RAM and other system resources than the other?

Are the both multithreaded or single threaded?

I ask because we currently have a 70/30 split of scans/electronic submissions but because we will be outsourcing this and our pilot is showing a 99/1 split (scans/electronic).

livecycle processing dead in the water

We have a system configured as a vertical cluster (2 jboss instances on a single server using gemfire). In late December node 1 stopped processing files and seemed to interfere with node 2 processing: if node 2 was processing files and node 1 was started, the processing on node 2 would stop, and then when node 1 was stopped the processing on node 2 would resume. No node 2 is dead as well. Just emits messages in the log like:

No amount of restarting, clearing out the stage folders, clearing the LiveCycle temp area, redeploying jboss components seems to unjam the system. Adobe support has been unhelpful to date. Willing to entertain suggestions from the field.

I am currently creating a form in Adobe Livecycle ES2. I want to put a PDF417 2D barcode on the form containing the data of the fields in the form. The customer should be able to use Adobe reader to fill out the form and the barcode should update with the field information. However to do this i need to purchase a license for LiveCycle Barcoded Forms. In order to get this license it seems that I need to purchase Livecycle reader Extensions ES2. However the product is not available online and when contacting Adobe no one knows how I can purchase this product. I have been in contact with: Adobe customer service Denmark, Adobe support Denmark, Adobe sales Denmark, Adobe customer service Sweden, Adobe Support Sweden, Adobe Sales UK, Adobe support UK, Dustin Denmark (Adobe reseller).

Does anyone know how to purchase this product or how much it costs to purchase?

An additional question i have is if there is a product that works in a similar way for Adobe Acrobat X Pro? Or do i also need Livecycle reader Extensions ES2 to unlock user rights for barcoded forms made with Acrobat X Pro?

Changing datamatrix properties

Hi,

I am pretty new to Adobe Forms and have the following problem:

I want to change the properties of a datamatrix barcode (it's not a paper form barcode), especially the number of segments. By default only 4 segments are created (at least if the content is not bigger). I tried to change it with a FormCalc-script, but couldn't manage to do it.

This is my code:

Code3.ui.#barcode.dataColumnCount = "1"

Code3.ui.#barcode.dataRowCount = "2"

"Code3" is the name of the barcode, the values are just examples. I played around a lot with these values, but could not see any difference. I inserted the script at different events, all without any change:

initialize

layout:ready

form:ready

Can someone tell me where my mistake is? Or is the change of these properties not supported for datamatrix?

I am using Adobe Livecycle Designer ES2 in an SAP-system.

I have a multiple page form with a barcode on each form. I created a separate collection for each barcode. The auto generated code looks fine and has the correct collection created, however I still get the error, Paper Forms Barcode error "Your script uses objects from a non-existent collection".

I'm not sure what is wrong and I don't know how to fix it. Anyone else run into this?

Unreadable Barcodes

I keep running into issues when creating forms where some barcodes work and others do not. On one form impaticular, I can't seem to get the barcode to be readable at all. I have tried everything from changing the width, height, and quiet space around the barcode. All but two barcodes work on this form and the data is not significantly different between barcodes. The barcodes I am having trouble with are Code 128 with text longer than 6 or 7 characters. Any suggestions?

I added a paper Forms Barcode to a form. When I press Tab after entering data the barcodes turns white and then solid grey.

Why does it happenned?

Under the value tab, I only checked Automatic scripting, format delimited, delimiter is TAB nad I use a collection data.

The barcode does not have any warnings or errors icons.

So i have created a form with this type of barcode (2D)

When i test the form in the preview the barcode change as the values are added, once i save and open in ful Acrobat the form again changes as data is added.

I can not check the valu as unlike a 3of9 i can not add a lbel that means anything.

The main problem now is that when i print it it seems to come out low resoultion.

French accented characters in a barcode are being dropped when scanned by a handheld scanner

We have an issue when our pdf417 barcodes contain french accented characters é,à,è, etc and are scanned by a handheld scanner. As a result Montréal is decoded as Montral (the é is dropped). We are using the Datalogic PowerScan 7000 and a Motorola Symbol DS6608 handheld scanners. We currently have a ticket open with Datalogic.

The problem does not exist when the barcode is decoded by LC Barocded Forms.Decode.

Talking to someone, they indicated that this is pretty common with handhelds. However, I did find this old post from lee sutton http://forums.adobe.com/thread/332743 where he uses a keyboard wedge?

Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue (non-english chars) via handheld?

Can anyone recommend a handheld that does read non-eng characters without the wedge?

Is there something in the encoding from Designer that i can do?

How to Define a Dynamic Barcode on a PDF Page?

I have a situation where we have a PDF form with multiple rows, (rows can be added as per the user's requirement), means user can click AddRow button and pdf will generate a new row to fill the data. There is no max limit of the rows, it vary and can be anywhere from row 1..10, 1..100, or 1..50 and so on.....

The first pice of the form is to create table/row with Add Row button has been completed. I have already added the AddRow button functionality into the form, but we also need to point the row's data to the barcode. Each data row should point to a single barcode 1 to 1 bases (One row one barcode). How to implement and design the barcode so that each row will be handled dynamically with one barcode? Or, if there is any better approach to handle this.

I would really appreciate if you could send any document, example or sample.

Flattened PDF Form and Barcode not displaying

I see there are a lot of discussions that are not answered in this forum, so I am guessing this will go unanswered as well. But I am looking for a solution for the issue in the subject. I have a simple PDF form built in LiveCycle that I am populating with Coldfusion. Once the form is populated I then flatten the form. The barcode appears up to the flattening point which is when it disappears. The characters that populated the barcode field ARE displaying but the image is not.

Is there a solution?

We use barcode 128C as default and give it a combined string:

1234[CB]letters 12[CC]8974

Til yesterday all worked fine, since today, the barcode shows, if any, the first letter of the text. the rest is gone...

Error in encoded data in 2D barcode

Hi, I have been met with a strange problem.

I have a form with a 2D barcode. The barcode is a pdf417 barcode and the character encoding is ISO-8859-1.

Often the field data include special characters as Æ – Ø – Å – Ü

Most of the time everyting is fine. But now and then (I guess one in a thousand) it seams that the encodeding of the special characters get wrong. e.i in the form field the data is ”Ørskov” but the barcode data says ”Ãrskov”. I have not been able to reproduce the error in house but I have seen a few on incomming forms in the last 6 month.

Where should I start troubleshooting? Has it anything to do with the client’s version or settings of Adobe Reader?

Is there anything I can do to prevent this error?

Dear All,

Could you please help me with the below issue?

I have a pdf form created in Adobe LiveCycle ES2 with 4 text fields and 1 QR code which automatic generated when field valuew changes. I have enabled from adobe Acrobat X Pro the reader rights. When i open from adobe x pro the qr code is working but when i open it from adobe reader and change a field then the qr code changes to grey box.

I want this pdf to send to users without internet access in order to fill it, print it and send it through fax.

You help is much appreciated.

Mutiple barcodes in .tif file

Can somebody point me to an example of a process that can handle mutiple barcodes in a single document ?

I have created a form in designer with a QR barcode, saved to a tif file. I am able to extract the data to xml using Barcode Forms decoder followed by extract to xml. When adding a second barcode it fails with java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException,

how should I change the process to handle multiple barcodes ?

Hi, I have configured a Live cycle barcode form service to decode a barcode from TIFF file. It will decode the result in TEXT file.The Version used is Adobe LiveCycle 9.0. I am getting some Tiff files through fax channel. But my barcode decoder service is not able to decode the barcode.The barcode are in PDF 417 format. The same barcodes are getting decoded through BarcodedForms 7.5 ST. Please help so that we can decode the same using Adobe LC 9.0.

Form Filling Consuming time after Dynamic Barcode Implementation

I am using Paper Forms Barcode to implement dynamic barcoding feature for my LiveCycle developed pdf. I have a requirement of tagging more than 40 data fields to my dynamic barcode. I am applying Reader Extensions for dynamic barcode to work fine. After applying all this, the form responds very slowly every time I fill one field. Whenever I move to another field, the dynamic barcode renders/ refreshes. This is consuming a lot of time. I'm taking nearly 10 minutes to fill a simple form. Can anyone suggest me a solution? Is there any setting available to resolve this?

HI,

I am trying to understand licensing with the use of a 2D barcode, javascript, and the free reader. Basically, I would like to take pre-generated PDFs (no existing forms fields) and in Acrobat pro 8.0 add a barcode to it, launch it from a webpage passing in specific account data to generate the barcode value and then have users print and manually fill out the form. They would then scan in the form, the barcode would be read to associate the form to a patient chart and an 'image' of the form would be uploaded and filed into are system.

The user would NOT be filling in electronic form data; they would be manually writing in the information. The only thing that would be dynamic on it would be the barcode which would get populated from internal javaScript that parsed information from the webLink call.

From what I can find on the web is that I have to pay for some kind of form licensing (using liveCycle extension?) if I want to distribute these forms to be read by the free reader. If I am going to distribute these forms to more then 500 individual users (from Acrobat 8.0 Licens agreement 14.13.3)

This all seems to be true based on the fact that I am using a dynamic barcode (free reader currently grey’s out the barcode unless I “enable user rights in adobe reader’ which then sounds like I am bound to the licensing agreement above)

Installing and using liveCycle extensions server/app seems like overkill for what I am trying to do. Am I missing something or am I on the right path? I have been calling our sales rep for adobe and trying to talk to others there as well and no one seems to know the answer.

Need Help Barcodes code 128

I cannot find any reference instructions for adobe x livecycle to add barcodes for code 128 and code 39. Found a lot of information for 2D, QR Code and DataMatrix barcodes. I need to generate a barcode for user entered information from 4 fields on the form: invoice number (6 numbers), customer number (6 numbers), branch ID (3 numbers) and document date (mmddyyy).

I have tried many times without success. There are great step-by-step instructions for 2D barcode but not code 39 or code 128a,b,c.

Can another please help me out. Point me to a good example or walk me thru how to do this with code 128.

Barcode Decoding Problems

Hi,

I'm experimenting with the PDF417 Paper Forms Barcodes, trying to determine capacity limits and how to reliably encode form data. Currently I'm seeing an issue where, when filling out my form in Adobe Acrobat Professional some data does not parse out on the backend. The barcodes are still displayed correctly in Acrobat (i.e. not greyed out), but when extracting the data, there are parsing issues. Some of the data comes through correctly, and some is garbled. It is as though a fixed size buffer is being overrun & there is random data corruption as a result.

I'm using data compression on each barcode, and tab delimited data. I can provide examples via email if that is useful. Any ideas?

Read barecode from PDF

Hello,

I create proces which read pdf document with barecode. When I

read barecode from Tif file everything is ok. When I read barecode

from pdf file, it return empty mesage.

I create pdf file from pdf form via adobe printer.

If I create pdf via combinate file from acrobat. Decode barecode doesnt

throws an error but decoding never stop (the decode component is green

in recording).

Does anyone know what is wrong?

Does anyone have solution? - I have to use pdf for decode not tif. And

a customer havent generator, so I cant convert pdf->tif.

Though I have worked on LiveCycle Designer, I am to totally new to LiveCycle Barcoded Forms ES. I have a requirement of tagging some of the input data fields of a form to dynamically generate the barcode. I need some info to get started.

1. What all licenses are required to encode data dynamically to barcode?

2. For what purpose LiveCycle Barcoded Forms ES is used. Is it used only for decoding?

3. How do we check the successful installation of LiveCycle Barcoded Forms ES? Is it a feature of designer?

4. Is it manadatory to specify the data length when dynamically binding data? Will the data length expand according to input data bound?

Can anyone help me on this to get started?

Hi all,

We need a help on Livecycle's Barcode field. Currently we need to insert a barcode into our PDF form. This barcode has 3 portions, and each of them uses a different standard, for example

5 digits of Code 128A + 5 digits of Code 128C + 5 digits of Code 128A or 128B

From the standard Livecycle ES, it only provides Code 128, Code 128A, Code 128B, or Code 128C out-of-the-box component, but not a combination of them. Therefore, is there a way to generate a "combined" barcode?

(P.S. we tried to use 3 components and align them together. However, we couldn't derermine/manage the space between them.)

Barcode incomplete by preview

we have a problem with barcodes in the print-preview. They are incomplete, means, there is a part of the embedded text and some line at the and of the barcode missing, if we use print-preview in SAP.

If we print directly or we create an email with pdf-attachment, the barcode is ok.

Any suggestions?
