How to capture comments and read in next participent steps in Workflow?

I want to capture comments in one of the participent steps of my workflow and read them in the next step . Please share some suggestions on it .

I have added a from step as the participent step but it is saving data with random ids . I am not able to figure out how to read the data for corresponding process step in the workflow ?

Please help .

Report framework requires at least one grouped column

A Report requires at least one grouped column, otherwise finish button will lead to "The report doesn't contain grouped columns".

Is it possible to configure a report not to require grouping?

Page impressions from multiple publish servers

Hi,

I'm wondering if anybody has any strategies / experience using CQ's inbuilt analytics (ie impressions) from multiple publish servers.

In CQ deployments I've been involved in, we've used 'external' analytics and the client's custom templates have not included '/libs/foundation/components/page/stats.jsp'. However, I'd like to understand if I'm missing something here...

If the stats were collected on each of the publish servers, there doesn't seem to be any mechanism for automatically aggregating them back on the author server (which would appear to be required for the display in the authoring UI to be useful).

I can see that the servlet endpoint for 'recording' the impression (/libs/wcm/stats/tracker.js) can be configured to point elsewhere... however is the recommendation really to point this back to the author environment? Is that really the suggested architecture though?

Even aside from the fact that you might not want your author 'externally' accessible (which I guess could be avoided by adding a servlet to publish which 'proxies' the request back to author, or using mod_proxy), surely, letting load from the publish servers anywhere near author doesn't sound like a great idea, plus there's all sorts of authentication issues here. This can be easily demonstrated by firing up a local author and publish, and browsing the Geometrixx online site on Publish as an unauthenticated user (watch for 403s for /tracker.js).

I would imagine the concerns above might also apply to the MVT capabilities (although I notice they use a separate tracking endpoint).

Am I missing something fundamental here about how this should be leveraged?

CQ 5.6.0 to 5.6.1 upgrade failing on Tomcat7 restart

All - wanted to know if anybody is having a similar experience in upgrading from CQ (AEM) 5.6 to 5.6.1, and whether you could suggest a remedy.

The problem we're having with 5.6.1 can be replicated easily on an AWS Linux instance installing a fresh 5.6.1 installation (i.e. bypassing any upgrade that would happen by installing 5.6.0 first) and following the instructions provided by AEM at https://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/deploying/installing_cq.html#Tomcat%207. Steps to replicate:

1. [OK] Launch a fresh AWS Linux installation using the latest AMI provided by Amazon
2. [OK] Install Oracle Java (1.7.0_25) and Tomcat 7 (7.0.40 - which is the latest version provided by Amazon); Tomcat 7 is configured to use oracle Java
3. [OK] Follow the instructions provided to configure tomcat7 and AEM author
4. [OK] Visit the login page on the AEM author - this works
5. [OK] Stop tomcat7
6. [OK] Start tomcat7
7. [FAIL] Visit the login page on the AEM author - this hangs, telneting to the HTTP port used by tomcat doesn't connect

So basically everything is fine until you restart Tomcat. The same behaviour is observed when doing an upgrade - so doing an inplace upgrade from 5.6.0 to 5.6.1 succeeds but breaks when the tomcat service is restarted.

Client Context won't return string array

Hey Guys,

I'm working with displaying dynamic user data via the client context.

I have managed to create a property on a user that is a string array.

The problem I am having is when i look at my values in the client context (and the json response from getting the profiledata) I am only getting 1 of the values not the whole string array.

For the default values that CQ gives you this is also true.

An example for you to see would be by viewing the client context of Alison Parker and then under her profile data displaying the "followers" property. YOu will see in the CRXDE that there are multiple values for this property but only one is displayed and returned in teh JSON response.

Is there a way to return the whole array?

Any help you could give would be great!

CQ5 as Windows Service with LDAP Authentication

1 Introduction

LDAP: Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
Used for accessing centralized directory services.
LDAP is often used to achieve Single Sign On which allows a user to access multiple applications after logging in once.

2 Steps

1. Install LDAP server,

1) Double click the file（Download from apache website first）

ApacheDirectoryStudio-win32-x86_<architecture>-<version>

2) After start the system, Create a new server (CQ5LDAP)

New-New Server

3) Add group and users and save them

Name: Adobe

Suffix: ou=groups, dc=adobe, dc=com)

Name: Adobe2

Suffix: ou=users, dc=adobe, dc=com)

4) Start the server

5) Create a new connection (CQ5LDAP)

Connection name: CQ5LDAP

Hostname: localhost

Port: 10389

6) Fill in the Authentication information

Bind DNor user: uid=admin, ou=system

Bind password: secret

7) Right click the connection name, Import users with LDIF Import

2. Configure repository.xml

Remove or comment the LoginModule element in the repository configuration (repository.xml). The configuration file can be found in the folder crx-quickstart/repository.
Ensure that the file ldap_login.conf is in a folder such as crx-quickstart/conf/ of your CRX installation folder.
Add the following bolded code to repository.xml so that users can login

3. Change start.bat and Quickstart.bat

From the command line, start Quickstart with the option:

-Djava.security.auth.login.config=crx-quickstart/conf/ldap_login.conf

For example:

32-bit VM:

java -Djava.security.auth.login.config=crx-quickstart/conf/ldap_login.conf -Xmx384M -jar crx-quickstart-<version>.jar

64-bit VM:

java -Djava.security.auth.login.config=crx-quickstart/conf/ldap_login.conf -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xmx512M -jar crx-quickstart-<version>.jar

4. Starting CQ5 as Windows Service

We install CQ5 as a windows service with instsrv.bat located in C:\author\crx-quickstart\opt\helpers.Hence, if we want to use CQ5 service with LDAP. We need to change instsrv.bat and then run instsrv.bat to install CQ5 as a Windows Service.

Replace line 40: set jvm_options=-XX:MaxPermSize=256M

With: set jvm_options=-Djava.security.auth.login.config=C:/author2013/crx-quickstart/conf/ldap_logi n.conf";"-XX:MaxPermSize=256M

5. Start the CQ5 service with CMD or Service of Task Manager

c:>sc start CQ5 (or any service name you installed, say cq5author)

6. Now you can login by LDAP users

Sending newsletters

Lucene indexing configuration

Is it possible to add custom analyzer (EnglishAnalyzer) to properties and when it(analyzer) has to take in consideration custom boosts of these properties? When i try to add analyzer to property, lucene does not consider boosts, and when I removed custom analyzer the problem disappeared too. Here is my workspace.xml search configuration:

Caching Client Libraries

Does CQ have a built in way to deal with client library caching issues? When using the foundation image component, the final src attribute of the image in the clients browser is something like:

This allows the browser to cache the image, but when the image is updated in CQ, the src attribute is updated accordingly, and therefore the new image is requested by the browser.

Does CQ also have this kind of functionality for it's client libraries, so that javascript and CSS files can be cached in the same sort of way, and automatically get renewed when updated? For example, something like:

I know we could set the expires headers, but this is not the most efficient way since the files may not have changes since since they were last requested.

Also, can this be done for other items, for example font files etc?

Any thoughts appreciated...

Unable to replicate robots.txt through to the dispatcher

I implemented robots.txt on both author and publish instances using the link below:

robots.txt exist and it is visible on both author and publish instances. When i tried to display the robots.txt on dispatcher link "http://localhost/robots.txt", i got the error below:

Not Found

The requested URL /robots.txt was not found on this server.

Is there any specific configuration settings needed on the dispatcher for it to recognize the robots.txt? Or are there any issues that could cause this problem?

After I have populate the page property with the vanity url, some page the pages are not reflected on the JCR Resolver page -> Resolver Map Entries.

How to store a value as Double using dialog?

I have used Numberfield xtype also but it also stores data as String in the CRX which hampers my sorting while searching any data.

Select Locations on map

I would like to integrate a google map, where you can select your location/town, select a circuit and a division to find the nearest distributor.

Similar to this:

To maintain the backend you should just have to insert some locations and it will find coordinates on the map itself.

Is there already a tool/plugin/code which can do this?

DAM Cache

In our environment, after content update , the stuff(Pdf/PPT) in cache is not getting invalidated. And thus we are ending up with old content(PDF/Docx). And to work around this we end up clearing the dispatcher cache manually everytime. What could be the issue and where do I look at ?

Rich Text Editor - Saving encoded characters

Hi all,

I am using CQ5.5 SP2.1. The problem faced is that on IE8 Western European (Windows) encoding, special characters do not display correctly. However, using HTML encoded version of the special character will display correctly, i.e. using £ instead of £.

However, on the richtext editor in source edit, the £ gets converted to £ upon save, and is saved and rendered as £ instead of £. Is there a way to remove the conversion upon save?

I need suggestion on how i can leverage user behavior on site (tracking the path user accessed) to target the content on page. One option i can think of to use adobe analytics to capture the path information (tracking) and Test & Target to configure with CQ for segmentation and personalized content, but i am not sure how to connent analytics with Test & Target so that this information will be used to resolved the segment (or personalized content - i think here i am missing something)

Handling Post requests to update node content

I'm pretty new to CQ5 and trying to handle HTTP post request with my component . My directory structure is

In my trainingpage.jsp ,

i have following

The node path and resource path are returning as expected Node path : /content/Trainingsite/jcr:content

How to exclude a page path in Query?

Hi,

I am trying to exclude certain path from a query.

I can't do it in the indexing configuration as I need this path at certain other positions as well.

I know there can be workarounds like creating a property on the page and using the property predicates I can exclude this page in my query. But is there any simpler way of achieving this?

I am having an issue in creating a query to search multiple node types.

The requirement is to query documents/pages of the type dam:Asset and cq:Page present under a path.

I tried the following code snippet with no luck .

path=/content

1_type=cq:Page

2_type=dam:Asset

property=jcr:content/metadata/@cq:tags

property.1_value=<tag Name>

I was able to write a query with single type. However i could not find any documents/ materials with multipe types as shown above.

CQ and J2EE application integration

There is a JSP-servlets J2EE application(ecommerce web site) which is deployed on tomcat. Now My requirement is to integrate this J2EE application with Day CQ to display contents related static pages.

With hybrid approach, where we maintain all the content related stuffs in CQ and dynamic pages(ecommerce like checkout) in J2EE container, I have following challenges -

How could we use the apache server to go back and forth between CQ and J2EE container using redirection. Apache would be the front container for all the request and depending on the rewrite rules it would forward the request to either CQ or J2EE container ? Any example of this would be helpful.
Since CQ does not provide OOTB session feature, how should I do the session management across CQ and J2EE container. I mean when I go back and forth between CQ and J2EE container.

When is the copy in manuscripts activated?

Manuscripts apparently do not have any sort of activation feature. Are they automatically activated every time someone makes an update? Or, is the copy made live only when the page with the article containing the mansucript is activated?

Handling custom (localized) error pages

On our site, we'd like to be able to maintain and serve custom/localized error pages in the end-users' own language rather than just a standard customized page like /apps/sling/servlet/errorhandler/404.jsp.

Right now, we're storing these localized pages as /content/<country>/<language>/errors/<errorcode>.html (e.g. /content/be/nl/errors/404.html), allowing editors to maintain them.

Normally, it wouldn't be hard to find and serve the correct page. You could just serve http://www.mysite.com/content/gb/en/errors/404.html if the users tries to fetch the non-existing page http://www.mysite.com/content/gb/en/invalidpage.html.

The problem is that we've got an Apache server doing rewriting in front of CQ like this:

/content/gb/en/products.html -> gb.mysite.com/products.html

- so when trying to determine which page to serve to the user, we use hard-coded reverse mappings (gb.mysite.com -> /content/gb/en/).

The thing is, the webmasters need to be able to set up error pages for a new country site without contacting a developer to get the mappings updated.

But how do I figure out which page to serve without using mappings?

Ideally, I'd like to use a "site setting" per site, allowing the webmaster to define e.g. /content/gb/en/errors as the "base path" for error pages. But when all I've got to go on is a request for e.g. http://gb.mysite.com/invalid.html, then all I can do is try to find the nearest correct parent that resolves to a Page - which would then be "/". I thought I could resolve the full path of this root Page to /content/gb/en/, but no luck.

Any ideas on how to handle this? Any and all suggestions would be most welcome!

How to create a query in for lastModifiedDate in Query Builder

I want to create a query to get the Dam Assets those with their lastModifiedDate that match the current date.

The usual lastmodified date is of the format yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm:ss etc.

With the current date we only have "yyyy-MM-dd"

I tried something like this ,

map.put("path","/content/dam");

map.put("type","dam:Asset");

map.put("property","cq:lastModified");

map.put("property.value","yyyy-MM-dd*"); / map.put("property.value","yyyy-MM-dd~"); / map.put("property.value","yyyy-MM-dd");

But i was not able to get the desired results.

Please suggest if there is a a way to do it if you have already tried anything similar .

Workflow Payload update needed once we move the node(payload path)

Hi ,

When you moved your node in a workflow process,how the new payload should be used in the further workflow process steps.

if we use the payload in the further workflow process steps, this will give an error , as the payload which the workflow process is pointing at has been moved now.

Can anybody help me to set the new payload for the workflow process, after the node is moved to a different position.

For example: when I started the workflow my Node is point at sourcepath= /content/usergenerated/mycomments/mycommentpage

If I moved this node path to destination path= /etc/commerce/products/approvedcomments/mycommentpage.

My two questions are

1 Do we need to set the new payload path ?

2. Why there is no method called setPayload() in WorkflowData? is there a specific reason?

Clientcontext values in publisher instance

Hi,

We tried teaser components with segmentations defined properly which is working fine in Author instance.

When we try to access the same page in publisher mode, this is not working.

Our custom store properties:

1) We have our own store defined with hardcoded values but publisher still does not see anything when we try ClientContext.get from the browser console.

2) we tried existing data store profile and added a new property. This also can not render properly on Publisher instance.

Are we missing something here?

Hi All,

I have a following requirement ,

To import a pdf file along with a xmlfile (has metadata information) to CQ5.4 using webdav from an external system. So i followed the below step to achieve it.

1. Launcher which listens to a specified path and with a condition jcr:content/mimetype==application/xml file to process only xml. This xml file have the information about pdf file name (needs to be imported) and other meta data information thats must be added to asset metadata node.

2. Implemented a workflow to read the xml file and get the pdf file based on the name. Using AssetManager service created the asset under "/content/dam" path, here is the code

Update metadata node: I have to wait for Asset synchronizaion between "var/dam" and "content/dam" to complete then get the metadata node to update. To achieve i have implemented to wait for a fews minutes then throw an timeout exception and delete the asset then author get notified for the failure.Different solution or any suggestion may help??

Skip ExtractMetadataProcess: During the workflow import process i included a flag to asset jcrcontent node - only for the files imported using webdav. I created a new Metadata process which replaced ExtractMetadataProcess in the dam update workflow process - to read the flag form the jcr content node and skip it only for these files. here is the code.

Mobile Page content not displaying

I am newly trying my hands-on on Mobile sites using AEM5.6. I tried to create a new mobile site. So as a first step i created a page and a template to run it. In page components body.jsp i simply printed "mobile test".

When i ran the page without setting device groupd i got my page with "mobile test" in it. Then i set device group in the root page properties. But then when i ran my page I am getting mobile page but , the content is missing. I tried giving parsys, that also was not displaying. So i just doubt if something is erroring.

For trial and error, i copied the same geometrixx structure to my local project. My local project differed from geometrix in only the following.

So my question is

I could analyse that the <div id="wrapper" class="<%= cls %>"> is needed for all mobile site pages... Is my assumption right???

Div ids are not persisting in rich text editor of CQ5.6

Hi,

I created a rich text widget and I added plugins. I activated "misctools" plugin also. I clicked on "sourceedit" and paste the code which contains ids for divs like -

After that I clicked ok and again I opened the dialog. But I'm unable to see id. It shows only -

I also created "htmlRules/serializer/config" nodes of type nt:unstructured under the richtext editor widget. It worked in 5.5 but not in 5.6.

Whats the problem behind this? Please suggest me the solution for this. Let me know if there is any other way to persist div ids in richtext editor of cq5.6

custom store not being rendered on browser console

Although the code is deployed onto my author instance, when i access any page, the CQ_Analytics.CustomStoreMgr seem to undefined. Did any one follow this? Am i missing something?

CRXDE Unable to connect to repository
