Saving Fillable Form as non-fillable PDF

I need some help with LiveCycle.

I've created a form that will be sent to several people to fill out. Once they fill it out, they will need to save the form as a non-fillable file (normal PDF?) and send on to others to be read-only. The form will not come back to me.

I cannot figure out how to enable the form to be saved as a normal, non-changeable PDF.

Also, the only option seems to be that the form is returned to me. I don't want that, either.

I have a field which a person enters their full name (First Name [space] Last Name). I want to have another field obtain and return the substring of the First name only (i.e. up until it encounters a space in the main string).

I am taking an existing form with with comment fields. The fields are set to multiple lines, but the excess text will not print out.

Is there a way to do this? I tried changing tab order and sequencing the data but that did not work.

I am trying to create a radio button that when clicked an existing textbox is hidden.

here is my code:

I am inserting this under a click event on my RadioButtonList22.

Nothing happens when I test the form. I click the radio button by the text box does not hide.

Footer at the bottom of the last page only

I am doing a dynamic form which has drop down rows (click the + button, then a new row will be created, so the user can have as many rows they prefer, then there is a footer with E-signature in it (hopefully the footer can be shown at the last bottom page only) ).

My issue now: So when I have 2 pages of forms in total, the bottom of the first and second page will both have the footer (Signature). However, if there are 3 pages of form in total: the bottom of the first and third page will both have the footer (Signature), but not the second page.

What I want: How can I ONLY have the footer (signature) at the bottom of the last page, not on the first page, no matter how many rows and pages the user created ?

I can screen shot the form if needed. Please help.

I created a form starting with a Microsoft Word document, turned it into a Adobe Acrobat PDF and then turned it into a fillinable form using the LiveCycle Designer that used to be imbedded in the Adobe Acrobat program a couple of years ago. Now that they have upgraded my Adobe Acrobat to the version that doesn't have LiveCycle Designer included (but given me the now separate LiveCycle Designer program), I can't seem to edit or add text to an existing form.

If I create (re-create) the form in the new Adobe Acrobat program, then I can go back and edit either the base document or directly in the form.

But I can't do that on my old forms. Is that true or am I missing something?

Unable to delete a blank page

I'm using Livecycle Designer ES2 version 9. I have a 14 page form, most of it set to Flow. Somehow there's an extra blank page (pg. #10) that I cannot do anything with: if i add an object it puts it on the last page (14) and I'm unable to move it back onto page 10. I can't delete it b/c it says it's a Master Page, of which there is only one. When clicking on the page, it takes me to "Master Page > Page1" in the heirarchy.

I have no idea what I did to make it appear. Short of having to start the form over from scratch, not my ideal solution, I'm at a loss.

It's probably something stupid on my part which then hopefully means it's an easy fix!

I am new to FormCalc and JavaScript, but I have been trying to do some reasearch and some different syntax. I have an image field inserted into a subform. I am trying to have this subform's presence setting adjusted based on a field located somewhere else on the form. I have been able to get the subform to become hidden based on other fields located on the form, but not with the one I need. The field is working because it is loading the data correctly with the print tests. My thought is that I am calling this field value incorrectly for the if statement.

The subform is called (Logo), and I have setup an image field that contains my embedded graphic file. The graphic field is called LOGO (I know matching names is not the best idea).

I do not receive any syntax errors when checking.

Basically I am tryin gto check the HideField to see is it equals XA, and if it does I hide the subform, but more importantly the graphic.

I have added another text field into this subform and referenced the field I want fromthe context tab to make sure it is populating correctly there as well, and it is. I have since changed that presence to hidden incase it will be helpful to use.

I have tried looking around, but I am mostly finding examples linking to user entered, or selected fields. This field get automatically generated at the time of creation. The user does not drive this answer, and it does not get changed, so it does not need to be updated.

Hi everybody

Big problem ! I created an order form for business card that the customers fill in with Adobe Reader. He types the data in some fields (which are bound through the data binding "use global data") with those situated in the set up of the business card below. The business card is wrapped in a subform. It works perfectly. But when I add many pages, each field has the same text in every pages (name, function, address, and so on) due of course to the data binding "use global data". I would like a different name on each page. How can I manage that ? Pardon my english. I hope I was clear. Any help would be appreciated.

Calculation doesn't always work

Hi there

I created a form with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 where you can fill in figures and it calculates the result automatically.

The calculation works fine with Adobe Acrobat X and Adobe Reader 9.2.

But it doesn't work when I open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

Does anyone know what the problems is? Why does it work in X and Reader 9 but not in Adobe Pro9?

Dynamic form ana automatic sum and average

I would like to create a form where the user can add rows in a table, and after completing the data table, it will be automatically added up and be counted average.

Analysing the examples I was able to make a dynamic form but I can not add automatic counting.

I would also like to add the following lines after the automatically appear in the line number in the first column.

I have Adobe Standard and created a fillable form. When some people try and save this doc, it only saves as the blank form and not what they had filled in. Why is this happening?

I am currently editing an Adobe Acrobat X form in Adobe Live Cycle ES2. I modified an existing e-mail address on a submit button already created. I saved the file, but when I either preview my changes in Live Cycle or Adobe Acrobat X Professional or Adobe Acrobat X reader, the old e-mail address appears. Has anyone run across this before? Could it be a compatibility issue.

The forms do work on PCs using Firefox and Internet Explorer.

They do not work on Mac using Safari, Chrome or Fireforx.

Update to Windows 7 causes trusted javascript to fail

We have a javascript file in the ADOBE/READER 9.0/READER/JAVASCRIPTS library that saves a completed form to a designated folder after the digitial sigature is added. The script executes a "saveas" (trustPropagatorFunction) and worked like a champ until the computers were upgraded. The current OS is Windows 7 64 bit but he ADOBE READER version is under the program files(x86)/adobe/ file structure. Can someone please assist on what settings are needed to get this crippled application back to work?

Problems with adding and deleting rows

I have a form that has two tables in it. The first table is set up to add or delete rows and works just fine.

The second table is also set up to add and delete rows, however, when the user adds a row, saves the document, and then reopens later, this second table adds 6 rows to the form. Even if the user goes in and deletes the 6 rows and saves it, when it is reopened, it still adds the 6 rows. I've checked the Object for that row and it is set for Initial count of 2.

What else could be causing the table to add 6 rows and not allowing the user to delete it?

Email form as pdf (with data)

I'm new to using LiveCycle and Adobe Forms- so I know this question is redundant. I have read several threads regarding this same issue I'm having, but don't see any follow-up responses that provide solid solutions.

I have created a fillable form using LiveCycle Designer 8.0. I need to be able to allow users to submit the filled out form as pdf via email (using Outlook-all users uave Outlook on their stations). I've adjusted the button properties (using button, not email submit button), adjusted the xml code (to submit as pdf instead of xml), etc. I may have done too much or adjusted things so that they negate each other. I am able to get the process to work fine using Acrobat 8.0 Pro, but the button does nothing when using Adobe Reader XI.

Users will be using the Adobe Reader XI when filling out & emailing the form.

All responses are greatly appreciated! As usual..there's a time crunch with this project.

I was trying to have my font size automatically decrease when the user is out of space but I can't get it to work. I have seen an example of it working on a form, however, in the example, the caption was also implemented whereas in my text field it is not.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Optional currency

But I have been receiving new requests for US Dollars ($).

My present role involves redesigning a large number of our internal paper forms in LiveCycle Designer ES2.

My question concerns the appearance of digital signatures.

In several examples I’ve seen of digital signatures, the stylized Adobe “triangle” appears as a watermark. My organization would like employees’ digital signatures to feature our company logo as the watermark.

How can this be accomplished, and are there any limitations on:

- opacity
- image type (vector versus raster)
- filesize
- maximum image dimensions
- colour space (CMYK versus RGB)

If one of you can direct me to some step-by-step, how-to documentation that explains how we can accomplish this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a form that has mutiple pages. On one of the forms, I have created a hyperlink to open a different form. My objective is to be able to click on the hyperlink and transfer some of the data from the original form to the hyperlink form. Is that possible? If so, can you send me an example? Thanks.

Hi all. I have a form that I'm creating, that has an area in it called "Sketch." The size is 2 x 6.75. In this area, the user needs to be able to insert a graphic or a picture. I've never set up a form this way before, so I am wondering what kind of field would I use for this? (i.e., text field, signature field, etc) and how does it work?

Hi All, I'm having problems with the how the number displays when it is calculated. For example, 5 x 1% should read as .050. But instead it reads 5. How can I get it to display as .050? I'm sure it's a simple solution, but I've yet to find it.

Hello - I have created a form that calculates the sum of 4 fields, but need to have the ability to overrride the calculation.

Field "Total" is set to Calculated - user can override.

Calculate* script is form calc:

sum(monthlyrent,Utility,Admin,groundsfee,parking)

When I go to override the sum, it reverts back to the original calculation.

3rd Time Plea - desperate for help to make PDF with editable text & Images

Hi. I'm a newbie to LiveCycle and thought I would be able to get some help here on the forum with a problem I have.

I have asked this a couple of times before but no-one has come back with an answer. I really need some detailed help to sort this. I was going to offer a $50 reward for the answer until I found that it was against the forum rules, I am THAT desperate to find out how to do this....

I want to be able to create a multi-page PDF that has editable text and editable graphics over a background image, and that can be edited in the free Adobe Reader, as per this item - http://www.wendygarratt.com/images/flyer.pdf

I know that it was designed in LiveCycle, (I have LiveCycle and Adobe Acrobat Pro X), but LiveCycle is new to me and need help in getting started.

I am willing to work with someone to help get this sorted but it is urgent that I get to grips with this. I would really appreciate someone being able to take me through the various stages/steps.

XML Data File Binding Problems... To XFA PDF

I was able to to this ok with ES2. With the new ES3... when I change the XML data file... the XFA PDF does not show the changed data.

I presume that this works the same way for both Static and Dynamic forms.

Is a schema file a must?

Is there a preferred XML editor?

Difficulty calling a function using Action Builder

I am trying to write my first script so understand it needs help.

What I am trying to do is make a timesheet specific to my company. I want to do automatic calulation when the monRegular box is entered. I used action builder to help me set it up.

The error message I keep getting is:

TypeError: this.resolveNode("TimeCalc").TimeCalculator() is not a function

here is my script:

Where can I go to find some good examples of how to set up fuctions and classes. You can explain it to me all day but I need an example to understand it.

If you want to save the PDF forms along with the filled data you can:

Use any form with the paid Acrobat Professional
Use a form extended with Acrobat Professional (limited to 500 forms). See this article for more details.
Use the forms extended with LiveCycle Rights Extensions (unlimited distribution of forms is allowed). See this page for more details.

Using LiveCycle Reader Extensions a form designer can extend or apply document rights to the form to enable saving of filled data using even the free Reader. Using LC RE a PDF producer can achieve much more functionality for free Adobe Reader like, enabling end users to save data locally, add and save annotations, apply digital signatures, dynamically embed data in a barcode, and integrate with web services for PDF forms and documents.

Split a long PDF form programmatically into smaller PDF forms

You can programmatically split forms using LC Assembler service and use the DDX. You could extract page1 from pdf1 and create a pdf, then page2 of pdf1 into a different PDF using something similar to:

To split according to Level 1 bookmarks, you can also use the PDFFromBookmarks tag.

Can You Disable A PDF Form After X (days or openes)?

Is there any way to disable a PDF form after X # of days or X # of openes? Here's my situation:

I have a time sensitive document that needs to be filled it out and printed within 72 hours from receipt. After 72 hours the form is no longer valid and must be locked and disabled (meaning you can open it and see the contents anymore). Is there any simple solution?

* FYI, seems purchasing DRM is a bit too expensive for this application.

I have Adobe LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat Pro X.

With Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions you can enable various features in PDF documents, that are available only in Adobe Acrobat Professional or Standard. This includes the ability to save PDF forms with the data users have filled in it. Reader Extensions has a simple UI, using which you can apply various usage rights to a PDF form. Apply Basic Form Fill-In usage right. Users will have to use Adobe Reader 7.0 or later.

Another way to do so is extending PDF forms using Acrobat Professional. However, the form designer can collect only up to 500 responses from such a PDF form.

Validate and warn user to fill a mandatory field in a PDF form

Below is a basic example of how you can assit your form users, by reminding them to fill the mandatory fields. This condition can be applied at various events like, printing, submitting, while filling form, etc. In the following example, validation is triggered when the user leaves the form field.

If a user clicks within the field and moves on without filling it, the following warning shows up.

I need tips on how to use Submit to URL functionality on the form .

I want the form xml to be submitted to a URL . I understand that there will be a button on the form on which i can specilfy the URL .

But how on the other end i can retrieve that xml and use it ? Can anybody help me with the sample code .
