RH11 showing FM paragraph formats in linked DITA topics

Hi all,

I'm using TCS 5 on Windows 8.1, and I recently upgraded to the latest Framemaker (12.0.3) and RoboHelp (11.0.3) releases through Adobe's auto-updater.

I have an RH help project that is linked (not imported) to an FM DITA map. I use this setup to generate Responsive HTML5 output from my DITA topics, which I edit in FM. I'm fairly new to structured workflows, so I'm hoping some of the experts here can help me.

Since installing the latest FM and RH application updates, I have a problem where formats from the FM structured template are showing up in the RH topics, even though I've mapped the FM formats to RH styles in Project Settings. Here's an example DITA task:

The "Task" line above the first step is from the FM template, which dictates that the step.begin paragraph format should have the StepsBegin frame above it. But I changed the style mapping in RH so that the step.begin format maps to an RH style (BodyLevel1). So I don't understand why this "Task" line is showing up; in fact, it didn't show up before I installed the latest application updates.

As an attempted workaround, I edited the step.begin format in the relevant FM structured template so that there is no frame above it. I was successful in that the Task line no longer shows up when I edit DITA tasks in FM. But for some reason, it still shows up in RH!

I uninstalled TCS 5 and reinstalled to see if the problem went away, and sure enough, everything was fine. But when I reapplied the FM and RH application updates, the problem returned.

I'm at my wits' end on this one. Any suggestions out there? Does this seem like a bug?

In the paragraph after a conditional build tag, an inline image gets wrapped in a div tag

Hi,

TCS5, so FM 12 and RH11. I have successfully applied some conditional build tags by turning off the apply conditional build tag setting and using the Conditional Build Expression in the WebHelp properties instead.

In RoboHelp, everything looks correct. I generate WebHelp and suddenly, a div tag is wrapped around the inline image in the paragraph that followed the text marked conditional.

This did not happen with TCS 4 (FM11, RH10). I am not sure why this div tag is applied only when I generate the help. Any thoughts on what to check?

I see lots of information in the forums about going from Frame to RoboHelp, but not the other way. Our company purchased FrameMaker in order to avoid the extremely painful process of converting our online help source into a book using Microsoft Word, which works fine for books under a few hundred pages, but it is a nightmare for the 1600-page PDFs that we produce. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to import a project from RoboHelp10 to FrameMaker12?

how to add a breadcrumb in Framemaker?

I was trying to add a complete breadcrumbs path (with links) in Framemaker. The breadcrumb path would be like: <Project Title> > <Chapter Title> > Heading 1. But, instead of putting it in Master page, I tried putting it in Body page (in a separate text frame).

On the Body page, place a text frame on top of the page.
Choose Special > Variable.
Select a user-defined variable in the Variables scroll list. (I edited the Definition as <$paratext[Title]>
The breadcrumb is showing properly (without the link)

Now I imported the .mif to RH. But it's not showing up in RoboHelp output. Do you know how to add a breadcrumb in Framemaker?

Hi,

I am using FM 11 and RH 10.

I would like to understand that If the size of FrameMaker document is huge(say above 75000 KB) will that not be imported in RoboHelp?

When I tried importing a FM book to RH, 3 units(FM files) were not being imported. All these 3 units are relatively huge in size compared to other files in the book. It is because images are directly copied to these files and not imported by reference.

I tried the link approach too. Even there these 3 files are not getting updated.

I want to know that if the size of the file can cause such issue and if so, is there any solution other than deleting all the images and importing them by reference.

MpjSingleSource Error publishing from FM12 in TC5 to webhelp

Just after initiating a publsh in FM12 to Webhelp I get an error window with MpjSingleSource in the Caption and an exclamation triangle in the body but nothing else.

What is this error and how do I fix it? It looks as if there was a problem with RoboHelp 6 but nothing since. Clicking on the OK button stops the publishing process.

What follows are some important limitations regarding FrameMaker books that are linked via TCS 4 to a Robohelp project to produce online Help output (HTML Help, WebHelp, etc.).

After a fair amount of testing and research, it seems that RoboHelp is incompatible with *any* FM text insets or "referenced content" such as Excel spreadsheets. Plus, there may be a serious limitation with cross-references in general that might require you to alter the folder structure of your FM project.

In several text insets in my FM book, I have cross-references to a topic outside of the inset. In FM, the links work and everything updates/generates with no errors. The links work in PDF. But in the HTML Help output from RoboHelp, some (but not all) of the cross references are broken--they look like links, but the cursor does not change to a pointing finger and no jump occurs when you click. Looking at the source HTML, the href command is missing for those particular links.

And although the FM "Heading & Page" cross-refs are set to convert to just <$paratext> in RH, some (but not all) of the broken HTML Help links retain the "on page x" part of the FM style. Again, other cross-refs in the insets convert correctly and are active. Even within the *same inset*, some cross-refs convert correctly, and some don't.

An MVP replied to my inquiry on the RoboHelp/FrameMaker Integration forum at the Adobe Community site, suggesting that I shorten the absolute paths for the target files to 35 characters or less, as he and others on the forum also had some random cross-refs that didn't work, and shortening the path seemed to clear most of them up. I moved my "Documents" and "Images" folders up the tree to one level away from the drive letter. (Grudgingly, I'll admit, as it whacked my longstanding project folder structure.) Unfortunately, this didn't work; after updating in RH and generating HTML Help, the same links were broken. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1378783 This seems like another serious limitation that could cause pain if you have an established, "verbose" file/folder-naming conventions. I'm leery of restoring my former folder structure out of the fear of breaking more cross-refs.

So I started digging around more in the forums and Help. Here's what I found:

- Other users found that the mere presence of insets would produce the same symptoms in subsequent cross-references in a FM file. Note that these cross-refs are not in an inset, but in text following an inset. So that seems to negate using insets at all in a FM/RH linked workflow. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1137497

- Another user imported an Excel spreadsheet into FM as an object. In FM, when the Excel icon is clicked, Excel opens the spreadsheet. But When linking to FrameMaker from Robohelp to create a Robohelp project, that Excel icon gets pulled into RH as an image without the link to Excel. So it seems like it is more than just text insets that fail.

- When I opened the Help for the Conversion Settings dialog box in RoboHelp to try to solve a different cross-ref issue, I noticed the following topic tucked under the "Convert FrameMaker cross-reference formats to RoboHelp styles" topic:

"Content reference

"Text or files that you have inserted into the FrameMaker documents as content references appear as part of the topics where they are referenced. They do not appear as references in the online Help outputs."

It took a while to sink in, because "content reference" is not conventional FM terminology, but this vaguely-worded statement buried deep in the Help seems to be saying that text insets are not supported in HTML Help output or any other online Help output. Apparently this at least includes Excel spreatsheets, too. It's also reasonably possible that it would include Word docs, PDFs, or other items imported as objects. Not sure about that, as no examples of "content references" are given, but other users would probably be interested.

Understand that I'm just trying to share what the problems are, share what I tried, and provide an aggregation of what I learned. This info was not forthcoming or obvious when I was shopping tools. Hopefully this might help someone else with their decision making when selecting tools.

In fact, I'd be overjoyed to be wrong about all of this. Text insets are such a useful feature in a single-source workflow, especially if the software you are documenting uses the same widget in multiple modules, has common UI elements in both client and server dashboards, not to mention all of the re-used boilerplate legal/marketing/licensing text, etc.--the list goes on and on. The "edit once, update many" model is too efficient for the TCS Development team to just overlook. In one of the forum threads, another commenter said he designs around this, avoiding insets. But that saddles you with a potentially big maintenance burden at editing time, and makes it necessary to add some "Comment" conditional reminder: "This text is repeated in x, y, and z. If you edit here, edit there, too." Not fun, and prone to mistakes.

Though there may be workarounds to some of these problems, none are as good as making insets work in RoboHelp.

Is any of this fixed in TCS 5? If so, I'd think it unfair to pay for an upgrade to get the fix.

I'm filing a bug report with Adobe, not a feature request, as these issues involve the core competency of TCS with regard to single sourcing, and require budensome workarounds for stuff that should just work right out of the box.

All cross references of a new project start with , text insets

I'm working with RH 9. I produce Webhelp projects based on FM related books.

This new book is based on existing projects and formats.

But one thing is new: There are many text insets.

My problem: The file that includes text insets has corrupt crossreferences.

They are underlined and have the right color, but do not work. Every cross reference starts with  

What can I do? Any known work around? Is it a known problem?

Issues with importing FM Glossary into RH

I have created the Glossary in FM using the following procedure:

1, Select the text for Glossary term and assign the Glossary marker to it.

2. In the Marker window, add a colon next to the term (as a separator) and enter the description.

3. Click New Marker.

When I generate the Glossary in FM, I get it right.

However, when I import this to RH, the entire text in the Marker window is considered as the Glossary term and the paragraph which has the selected text comes out as the Glossary description.

Where am I going wrong? Please advise.

Mysterious FM->RH style mapping override with span tag

I have been working in a super clean FM and RH project that is has one to one mappings for all my styles in the FM to same named styles in RH, just to be sure I do not mess up. Still, though, I seem to get a mystery mapping. For my bullets and lists, RH is adding a span tag with font set to Times Roman. I cannot find *any* css that has Times Roman. I've checked things like my character tags, my cross reference tags, etc and cannot find a correlation. Where would this be added if it's not in my FM Format definitions and not in my RH Style definitions. I tried reimporting the book to see if it needed a tickle of the project mappings template but that didn't help.

I'm attaching some images in hopes someone has ideas. The example does not appear to be times roman in Design view, but in more complex topics it's pretty obvious.

I have so many hacks for single sourcing now, about ready to give up.

Images in my FrameMaker 10-sourced Robohelp Web Help project are turning out as blank JPEGS appearing as blank spaces in the final output. How can I fix this?

I'm attempting to create online help sourced from a FrameMaker 10 book using Robohelp 9 and Web Help (primary layout).

The text is interspersed with numeorus small icons which, in the FrameMaker documents, are .bmp images inserted into anchored frames in the lines of text.

Most of these icons were imported by reference into the FrameMaker book's chapters. Some were copied from another FrameMaker book and pasted into the present book.

Many of these images are turning out blank in the finished Help project.

Robohelp seems to convert these images into JPEGS.

In the source FrameMaker book, the images which appear OK in the Help project have Object Properties including: Facets: FrameVector JPEG ... Referenced File: No File

The images which appear blank have different object properties there: Facets: DIB ... Referenced File: (address of the image's source file)

How can I fix this and make all of the images appear in the Online Help?

Changing CSH strategies

My client has finally decided that we will upgrade from Tech Comm Suite 1.5 to the latest version, just not right now (the decision alone is progress at least).

They also want to switch to using numeric map IDs for CSH (instead calling the path/filename which is linked externally to the application form name), which is how they originally wanted to call help. Currently I have a separate CSH paragraph style that lists the form name as well as xrefs to create the path and html.filename. There are often multiple such paragraphs within a topic, because multiple forms call the same topic. I generate a list of these paragraphs, do a little search/replace magic, and hand off a "mapping file.txt" to the developer. I don't remember how or why we came up with this as the best solution, but it's worked for several years now, so we've stuck with it.

I have read many forum posts to understand the correct process for using map IDs with TCS, but still have some questions.

I understand (largely thanks to many of Jeff Coatsworth's posts!) that I should create a FM marker (instead of TopicAlias) and reference this in the RH project import settings. I think I should create one marker for each form linked to the topic, and use the form name as the marker text, does that sound right?
When I import the project, RH will create numeric map IDs for each of these markers; I can provide this .h file to the developer. Presumably it will show the original form name and map ID# so the dev knows where to plug in the #s?
Are these Map IDs then static from one version of the project to the next? If they change with each new FM>RH conversion, does the developer need to update something in each form, or does he just include the .h file (i.e. is it adding work to him if the map IDs change each time)? Is it better to have them provide a list of map IDs, then I use those as the marker text in FM? As a vendor, I'm removed from the developers and don't fully understand what they do to call the help files we send to our clients!
One thing that may have initially spawned the current process is the need to identify the path since the FM>RH conversion creates a folder for each FM file in the book. Do I still have to somehow identify the path, or will the Map IDs magically find the topic? This is something I haven't seen mentioned anywhere, so hopefully it's not a totally stupid question!
Since I'm stuck using TCS 1.5 for now, is it worth implementing these changes now, or is it better to wait until we upgrade to TCS 5 (or whatever is current when they finally say Go)? If it matters to this question, after converting from FM8>RH7, I then open the project in RH10 so that the output works in Chrome.

Single Sourcing FM -> RH for Translation (Chinese, Spanish)

I saw a couple of related topics in 2011, but wanted more specific answers. Assume I am using the latest FM and RH versions.

If I author content in unstructured FrameMaker using character/paragraph/table styles and conditions diligently, what happens when I output to online help using RoboHelp?

For example, I have a need to translate my content. So, can I set up a workflow whereby only FrameMaker files need to be translated?

That is, can I create my English content in FM, create English online help output from through RH, send my FM source files out for translation (Chinese, Spanish, etc.), receive them back, and process fully translated FM content through RH without having to send any RH source files for translation.

And, will this specifically work for Chinese?

"to-content" chunk not working

Hi All,

I am using FM11 and RH10 from the ATCS4 tech suite.

Am not sure if its DITA in FM or Robohelp, but one of them is not listening to the chunking attribute that i have keyed in.

For example, i have the following tree structure in my dita map:

ConceptParent (given the chunking attribute at this level in the ditamap; chunk = "to-content")

Concept

Topic

Task

I am generating help directly using Publish option from Framemaker. I wanted all the topics to appear under the Parent Concept when i generate the html files, but its not happening. This is quite critical as we are creating articles and want to group topics/tasks under the same parent rather than spiltting it into different HTML pages.

Please help.

Context-Sensitive Help IDs

I hope this is the right format. People here have been very helpful with my questions on transitioning to RoboHelp.

I have TCS 3.0 and have linked pages from Framemaker 10 to generate WebHelp in RoboHelp 9.0.We are trying to migrate to RoboHelp so as to drop our WebWorks/Frame 7 help system. Fine for those systems that don't have context-sensitive Help implemented already, but I'm running into issues

One of our main tools has multitudes of context-sensitive web pages (flagged with a HelpLink tag in Frame).

I go into the Context-sensitive Help tool in RoboHelp to create a map. It needs ID #s for the pages. Currently, our page source follows the format:

<span class="menu_text" id="m1">Preface</span>

<span class="menu_link" style="display:none;">Intro_Copyright_and_Warrenty.html#1000183</span>

In creating the context-sensitive help, the format in the tool would then be (reading across the entry fields): Intro_Copyright_and_Warrenty.html m1 Preface

I have created a map, but the IDs are problematic, as we use a format that is not straight numbers. Notice that in the source above, the id is "m1". All of our ID numbers are an alphabet character followed by a number, as we have literally thousands of page links. But the tool will not take anything except numbers. Is there any way to get RoboHelp to accept a mixed-format mapping?

Hi,

I installed TCS 5 after installing a trial of RoboHelp 11. After I installed, I opened a project from TCS 4 and I was able to update an existing linked FM book and Link to new files. The FM files were converted ot FM 12 and the RoboHelp project was converted to RoboHelp 11.

Now, when I reopen the RoboHelp project, I cannot update or link to FrameMaker documents.

I am running Windows 7. I run both RH and FM as administrator and I have owner permissions to the Adobe folder.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling TCS 5 and the behavior is consistent. Is there some registry entry or something i should look for?

Links to FM Books Severed on Upgrade to TCS5

Since we upgraded to Tech Comm Suite 5, our RoboHelp projects are no longer linked (single-sourced) to their FrameMaker books. To correct this, we have to relink the projects and then go through the process of setting up the project all over again (mapIDs, table of contents, index, etc.) again, which is a very time consuming process prone to errors. Can anyone please help us avoid having to do this manual process for every single one of our many RoboHelp projects?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

However, when I create a new project and select Import > "Edit conversion settings for FrameMaker documents," the styles do appear on the Conversion Settings form.

Why are the styles not brought into the new RoboHelp 11 project?

Is there a way in RoboHelp to bring them in post the New > Project process?

Browse Sequence in FM11-RH10

Hi All,

I am using FM11 and RH10. I have created the RH Template so that I can publish HTML5 Help directly from DITAMap in FM11.

Everything works fine except that the browse sequence does not appear. Is it mandatory to import/link the FM Source - DITAMap to Robohelp to display the browse sequence.

Can someone help me with a workaround as I do not want to import the entire help source into RH, when its so easy to publish it directly from FM11.

Our FrameMaker manuals have note, tip, and caution paragraph tags utilizing the method here: Adobe FrameMaker: Adding an Image in Front of a Paragraph | ROCKY MOUNTAIN TRAINING blog

However, the images in the graphic frames do not import into our WebHelp projects, and we have been forced to insert them manually for every note, tip, and caution paragraph....very time consuming.

I have read elsewhere that only images in anchored frames import.

I am wondering if another author has had the same issue and found a way to resolve it. Is there a way we can get these images to import? Thanks.

File path lost while importing to RoboHelp

I am using FM11 and RH10 as part of TCS4.

I have inserted an image in FrameMaker which has the file path Interactivities\First Interactivity\tab1.swf (shown in the screenshot).

When I import to RoboHelp the path is lost.

This is generally not an issue as the file gets imported and published as well.

But in my case, I have three different SWFs named, tab1.swf, tab2,swf, and tab3.swf in three folders First Interactivity, Second Interactivity, and Third Interactivity respectively. The content of all three SWF files are being called from an XML file, which has the same name of tabs.xml. Now, when we publish the RoboHelp file, since all the three SWFs get copied/published to the single folder, that throws all my calls to the XML out of gear.

So, is there a way I can retain the file path when the file is imported?

TCS 5: Could someone explain RH's generated CSS for me?

We are using TCS 5 to link FrameMaker books to RoboHelp and have invested a lot of effort and expense to create a custom CSS that supports HTML 5 and responsive web design. We have all our FM tags mapped to the style sheet, so that we can use automapping.

Our CSS is working well, but whenever I regenerate the help, RoboHelp replaces our style sheet in the generated project with something that looks like this fragment:

Unfortunately, some of the features we've added to our style sheet don't work with RH's generated style sheet, but when I copy our original style sheet back into the project, things start working again. Maybe it's something in our original style sheet that RH doesn't like, but it's difficult to troubleshoot what it is exactly.

I assume there's no way to prevent RH from replacing our original style sheet, but I'm hoping someone has some experience and advice for how to handle this situation.

RoboHelp 11 not detecting styles in imported CSS

HELP!

When I import a CSS into RoboHelp 11 and then try to map FM12 paragraph styles to the selectors in the CSS, RoboHelp can't seem to see the styles in the CSS. Here's a very simple example from the CSS I'm using to test:

margin-bottom: .4em;

font-family:AvenirHeavy;

color:#f00;

}

.Heading2{

font-size:1.5em;

margin-bottom: .4em;

font-family:AvenirHeavy;

The FM para tags are Heading 1, Heading 2, etc., but I can't map them because I can't see the styles in the CSS. HELP!

Cannot link to FM document when starting new project

Hi,

We are using FM12 and RH HTML 11. We recently upgraded from TCS 4 to TCS 5.

We would like to dynamically link our FM books in RH. However, the option is greyed out. We encountered the problem with TCS 4, so I don’t think it is related to the upgrade.

Any suggestions you have as to how to activate this option would be greatly appreciated.

Robohelp and superscript text

I have FrameMaker 10 and RoboHelp 9. When I convert a Framemaker document that has superscript text into RoboHelp, Robohelp skews the text. The html reveals that it is not placing the "end superscript" commands correctly, it places it at the end of the sentence instead of after the superscript text.

Any help?

I am creating a settings file (ISF) for importing FM book into RH. When I create a left-aligned table style, I noticed that the table is on the left side, with too much gap on the right.

I checked the HTML code and saw that the width is set to 622. I changed that to 100% and the table got resized properly.

Now, my question is where do I define that 100% in the style properties/ CSS? Is this 622 coming from FM? If yes, any idea where? I checked the FM style and did not see anything relevant there also.

Cross-References Broken In RoboHelp 10 Output

We are using FrameMaker 11 to author our documentation. We have some cross-reference links that do not work when the FrameMaker book is imported into RoboHelp. Upon import, the href information is not included in the link in the HTML code. The text looks like a link, however. When the help is generated, the text is not a link. The following is an example of a non-functioning link:

Here is an example of a cross-reference that is functioning correctly:

There are no errors in FrameMaker. The cross-reference is updating correctly in FrameMaker. In addition, when a PDF is made form the same book, the cross-reference works in the PDF.

Troubleshooting steps I have taken:

I have tried going to MIF and back for both the source and target documents.
I have recreated the cross-reference and marker.
I have tried linking to a heading cross-reference marker, as well as a manually create cross-reference marker.
I have renamed the file.
I have renamed the marker.
I have used different cross-reference formats.
I recreated the file by copying all the text to Notepad and pasting the text back into a fresh FrameMaker file.

None of the steps I have attempted have corrected the issue for the cross-reference I focused my troubleshooting on. I hope that someone can point me in the right direction to correct this issue.

Customize TOC icons in Webhelp?

Hi all

I'm using Framemaker 12 and RH 11 as part of TCS5.

I've been trying in vain to change the icons that appear as part of the TOC when I generate to Webhelp.

I'm using a custom .skn file, in which I have a section that looks like this:

I have the three image files, page.gif, bookopen.gif and book.gif in the same folder as the skn file, but it does not seem that these are getting picked up during generation.

I have changed the colour of the closed book from blue (seemingly the default) to green, but this does not change in the compiled webhelp.

Can anyone suggest anything for me to try, please?

Breadcrumbs not picking up settings file configuration

I am using FM11, RH10 as part of TCS 4.0.

I am creating a settings file that will be used by team to generate WebHelp outputs. In this, I want to change the default Times New Roman font of breadcrumbs to Arial. While I am aware how to set that during publishing, I don't want to take that approach because I don't want my team to fiddle around too many things during the publishing process.

In the RHStyleMapping.css file I used to create the ISF, I saw the breadcrumbs option and changed it to Arial. However, that did not help.

Is it possible to achieve what I am trying to achieve? If yes, please advise me how.

Any idea what FM_SCxxxxxx classes are?

Hi. I have RH11 and I'm working with topics that I imported from FM12. I just discovered a lot of phantom classes that start "FM_SC", followed by several numbers, sprinkled throughout the text, as shown just below in the quote. Any idea what these are all about? It seems like they can be safely deleted, but I'm not sure. If safe to delete, are there any tools that can delete them en-mass?

The main downside to these classes is that when I click on text that follows one of these items, the highlighted style in the Style tab becomes unselected.

RH inserts filenames as title elements (instead of the actual chapter titles)

Hi all,

I am not sure whether this is a bug or can be fixed. When I import from FM using chapter title paragraph styles for breaking the content into topics, then RH inserts the resulting file names into the topic as <title> elements and not the title names themselves.

This is no problem as long as you can use the default naming convention (i.e. heading and filename identical). For some output formats hovever it is necessary to use a different naming convention to avoid non-english characters in file names. In such a case I use <n> as naming, resulting in files that have ascending numbers as file names.

Now I receive e.g. a topic with the h1 heading "This is my topic", the filename "123.htm" and the HTML title "123". That is very bad because in the search results e.g. in Javahelp the HTML titles are displayed, resulting in unusable search results.

Do you have any suggestions how to avoid this dilemma?

RH 11 Lists are all set to 0 after upgrading to TCS 5

I just upgraded from TCS 3.5 to TCS 5.

I use FM as my source and RH WebHelp as my output.

My numbered lists all start at 0 now.

Before I upgraded, In RH 9 (TCS 3.5), I created RH Styles and used the following numbering format:

Format: <x>

Numbering: decimal: 123

Prefix Style: None

I mapped my FM style to the RH Style.

Numbers worked fine:

Now, they are all zeros:

When I open a topic and look at the HTML page, it has added this: start="0"

If I delete the start="0" text and then click back on the Design Tab, the numbers appear:

Where is the 0 coming from? I can't find a setting anywhere.

Master page not picking up images associated in ISF file

I am using FM11. RH10 as part of TCS4.

Last year I had created a master page and settings file (ISF). We are now revising it.

Some of our styles have images associated with them (Style name > Format > Borders and Shading > Shading > Pattern).

My workflow:

1. Open a blank RH project.

2. Link FM book. All the FM files are imported. But there are no images in the Project Manager pod > Images folder yet.

3. Associate and apply the ISF file. Images show up in the Images folder. But they have this X mark against them. So I assume they are just some sort of placeholders yet. I check the topic where these images are used. They are empty as well.

4. Import the master page. I get a message that images are also imported. The X mark against the images are gone and they show up in the topic as well.

That is how it worked in the previous version, which was correct.

Now, that is not happening. Steps 1 to 3 work fine. But when I import the master page (Step 4), The confirmation message does not mention anything about the images.

In both cases, the ISF file, master page, and the images are all in the same folder. Now the only way to get the images work is by manually copying all the images to the RH project folder.

Can somebody please tell me why this is not working the way it used to work? From what I see, I am not doing anything different. I have even opened the master page in an XML editor and checked. I did not see any difference.

TCS3: Autofit tables to content

Hi,

I'm an occasional user of Framemaker 10 and RoboHelp 9, which I use to generate AirHelp.
In the Framemaker source documents I have a large number of 'Note:' and 'Caution:' paragraphs that I want to stand out from the rest of the text.

I investigated doing this using the Framemaker reference pages to insert a suitable graphic in front of each Note or Caution paragraph; this works fine in Framemaker, but is then no good in RoboHelp (as importing from reference pages is not supported).

I don't want to get involved in writing scripts as I feel this would be beyond my level of experience (which is very basic!) so I thought the best way to proceed would be to put all the relevant paragraphs into single row tables instead - the graphic would be in a fixed width column and the text in a second column that autofits to the width of the AirHelp window.

The problem that I'm struggling to resolve is: once the FrameMaker files are imported into RoboHelp, the tables are always a fixed width - how can I make them autofit without having to select each one individually and click Table > Autofit > Autofit to Window?

I guess I'm missing something simple, but I can't figure it out.

Changing width of tables imported into RoboHelp from FrameMaker

I have the Tech Comm Suite 3 and am linking FrameMaker documents in RoboHelp to publish Web Help. After a lot of work setting up the CSS/ISF files, I have everything converting perfectly from Frame to RoboHelp EXCEPT tables. I want tables in Help to be sized at 95% width (to auto-adjust to screen size). But there doesn't seem to be any way to set this preference. So right now, I have to set the width manually in the RoboHelp Table Properties for each table. Then, for some reason, I have to manually click and drag all of the table's horizontal lines up in order for the cell text to reflow into the new expanded width. I can't find any solutions to this problem in RoboHelp's Help or forum. Perhaps someone else has run into this issue and found a creative solution?

TCS4: Hyperlinks in RH10 are broken after an FM text inset. Why?

Hyperlinks from another FM document of the same FM Book does not work in RoboHelp after an FM inset. But hyperlinks from the same FM document works in Robohelp after an FM inset.

All the hyperlinks work in PDF.

Note: The hyperlinks are not within the text inset but outside the text inset. As long as it is after the text inset, from that point onward, the links will not work (if they point to another FM doc).

Please help. It would be a pain if this does not work at all.

RoboHelp reordered my linked FM files

I have a RoboHelp project that is linked to a FrameMaker book. I have been having problems with the linking - I make changes to the FM files and update the RoboHelp project but the changes don't always take effect - so I shut down both programs. I opened both programs along with the FM book and the RH project to find that my RH project files are totally in a different order than they were and then the FM files. I have closed and reopened RH but the files are still out of order. What would cause this to happen and how do I fix it? Do I have to delete the linked book and re-add it to fix the ordering of the files?

Please help - very frustrated with this tool...

Assistance with importing FM autonumbered lists appreciated

Hi. I have an issue whereby when I import an unstructured FM (v12) document into RH (v11) project, autonumbered lists in the FM files don't have correct numbering after the import.

The following describes 2 import tests I've done. (In the FM doc, lists start with a paragraph that have ListNumber1 style (<n=1>) and the remaining list items have the ListNumber+ style (<n+>).)

Import test 1:

I configure the import for ListNumber1 and ListNumber+ paragraphs to Convert autonumber to Multilevel list.
I leave the Robohelp Style mapping to the default ([Source]).
Perform the import.

RESULT: All items in the list in the output are numbered "1.".

Import test 2:

As in test 1, I configure the import for ListNumber1 and ListNumber+ paragraphs to Convert autonumber to Multilevel list.
For the RoboHelp Style mapping, I map ListNumber1 and ListNumber+ to BodyLevel1 (a built-in option).
Perform the import.

RESULT:None of the paragraphs in the output have any numbering at all.

Your help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
