Flash player still won't work after successful download

I have tried downloading Adobe Flash Player several times and have received a successful download screen. However whenever I try to play videos etc. it says that i need a flash player update to be able to play the video.

I am on a Windows 7 OS with IE 11 installed. I also have a trial version of AVG installed. I think that AVG may be blocking the update however I have received no notification to say that is it blocking it. I also have no idea on how to disable AVG to see if this is the problem.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You write "download", but did you also install it?
