Last few weeks have been one big bumpy ride with InDesign for me...

With most issues solved by now, mostly thanks to the community tips!

Today, however, I'm faced with an issue that I can't find a solution for....

Indesign won't even open properly. As soon as the program is initiated or a file is opened, a Windows crash tab opens up, informing only that "a problem has made the program stop working. Windows will close the program and notify in case a solution is available."

So, with a grim smile of despair and caffeine indulced shaking, provided by ever merciless deadlines, I have tried all the simple approaches and solutions that usually work.... Reinitializing the PC, reinstalling InDesign, loging out and back of Creative Cloud, cheking my fonts (no new one installed in over a week), no corrupted files...

I really don't know where to go from here....

Are you running any third-party plug-ins/extensions in InDesign?

  • If yes, have you tried removing those?

Have you tried to clear the Cache files? and reset the preferences?

Which version of Windows are you running?

Install InDesign CC 2015 version 11.4.1 and work with that.

Or maybe even going back from CC 2017.1 to CC 2017 will work for you.

See: 2017.1 back to 2017

Uwe
