Yeah, for some reason, it looks like the PPAPI/Chrome version didn't update.  The current version is 27.0.0.187.  The most likely reasons are that the file that needs to be updated is either damaged or in-use, such that we're unable to replace it when the installer runs.

Using Chrome, I'd recommend trying to manually download and install the update:

At that point, you should see the 27.0.0.187 version reflected on the update pane of the control panel that you provi

It's unlikely that you actually need to install Flash Player every day.  For the last ~15 years, content providers have been able to assume that if Flash Player isn't available to them, it's not installed.  As the major US browser move to make Flash Player disabled by default (usually employing a click-to-activate strategy), that assumption no longer holds true.  That means that you're going to get a lot of bad advice from websites that existed before these changes.

In reality, it's much more likely that Flash Player is installed and available, but you need to do something to activate it.  Depending on how the site invokes Flash, and how the specific browser implemented their click-to-play strategy, that click-to-play prompt may or may not appear automatically.

It sounds like you're using Chrome?

The following guidance might be useful: Use or fix Flash audio & video - Computer - Google Chrome Help

If not, to give you any useful advice, I'm going to need to know more about your computer, browser, and the site(s) giving you problems:

A screenshot of that prompt would be really interesting.  I'm thinking it's malware, but it would really help to see it.

It asks me when I turn on my computer to install Flashplayer...withouteven opening a browser.

The Flash Player Update notification dialog window behaves in this manner. When an update is detected, a registry entry is created to display the Update Notification dialog window upon login.

That does appear to be a legitimate update notification window.  Please go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Flash Player.  When the Flash Player settings manager launches, go to the Updates tab.  Post a screenshot of the updates tab.

Thank you.

This is the screenshot I'm requesting. Since you have NPAPI & PPAPI installed, it'll appear slightly different than mine.

To view the Flash Player Settings Manager go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Flash Player (32-bit), assuming your system is a 64-bit OS, otherwise, it'll be just Flash Player, without (32-bit).

Yeah, for some reason, it looks like the PPAPI/Chrome version didn't update.  The current version is 27.0.0.187.  The most likely reasons are that the file that needs to be updated is either damaged or in-use, such that we're unable to replace it when the installer runs.

Using Chrome, I'd recommend trying to manually download and install the update:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

At that point, you should see the 27.0.0.187 version reflected on the update pane of the control panel that you provided that last screenshot from.  You'll need to exit that control panel before doing the update.  At that point, you should stop getting update reminders.

If the install fails, reboot the machine and just try running it again before anything starts up.  If Chrome or Hangouts starts automatically, exit them first.

If the installation still fails, you might just do a quick sanity check on the disk to see if you can repair the problem:

Check your hard disk for errors - Windows 7:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2641432

If that still doesn't work, the installer logs should tell us why it's failing to update.

Details on providing them are included below:

Ok they are both the 27.0.0.187 version.  Took me a few times but it

finally worked.  Hopefully it doesn't ask me again tomorrow.

The trick was installing with Chrome.   I normally use Seamonkey and even though I began the update using Chrome....Seamonkey popped open at the end but it did update properly, nevertheless.  🙂

Sweet.  I'd highly recommend just setting it to automatically update.  It's really not worth the hassle to manage it manually.
